Since 1912, the Italian community in Middletown, Connecticut has honored their patron saint, St. Sebastian. They do so with a Mass and procession in which the statue or St. Sebastian is walked and ran throughout their town. Saint Sebastian was a martyr who was killed during the Diocletianic persecution of Christians. He was tied to a tree and shot with arrows. This is how he is often depicted.
