Lots of people can turn quickly but the real skill of a production woodturner is producing accurate high quality turnings. A single deliberate cut will be quicker than rushing two cuts. This real speed video shows the body movement and no wasted cuts but lovely crisp accurate work. With lots of practice and repetition anyone can do it. One of the things you have to do as a production turner is remember what the lines are marking and the most efficient order to work saving multiple tool changes. Note where there is a crisp edge I don’t plunge the v cut in one go as this gives a slight burr so the turning would not be sharp. On a radius like a bead this doesn’t matter.
